The PG Department of Management Studies & Research Centre had organized an Industrial Visit as a part of enhancing the practical exposure to real time management practices to the students of II Semester MBA and also a pleasure trip on April 9th and 10th, 2015 to MRPL (Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemical India Pvt Ltd), Mangalore, Dakshina Kannada District.
The tour kicked off from Shivamogga on 08th April 2015 at 11.15pm and reached Mangalore on 9th April 2015 at 6.30 am. The troop left Mangalore at 12 pm and reached MRPL at 1.30 pm, the batch was divided into four and each batch was headed by a guide and was allowed inside at 2.00 pm.
MRPL (Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemical India Pvt Ltd), a subsidiary of ONGC is a state of Art Grassroots Refinery located in a beautiful hilly terrain, north of Mangalore City. The refinery has got a versatile design with high flexibility to process crudes of various API and with high degree of automation. MRPL has a design capacity to process 15 million metric tons per annum and have 2 Hydrocrackers producing Premium Diesel. MRPL has high standards of refining and environmental protection and has green belt around the entire Refinery.
Next day (10.04.2015), the troop visited Primacy Industries at 11.30 AM. Primacy Industries Ltd are the largest manufacturers of private label scented candles in the world and also manufacture host of Aerosol products for various retailers. It export candles to many retail chains such as Walmart, Dollar General, Tesco, Carrefour, Home base, K-Mart, Homes R Us etc, and also supply to other distributors and gift wholesalers around the world. It has five candle manufacturing units – two in India and three in US. It manufacture products like wax filled jar/container candles, poured pillars (rustic, smooth, mottled etc.), pressed pillars, T-lights, wax melts, votives with different designs, colours, textures, fragrances, etc.
The Students were interactive and studious by probing lot of questions on the process; all those were answered by the company personnel very patiently.
