Career Orientation Center & Job Shop
Mission To train students in personality development, industrial orientation and thus, help them get placed in reputed industries.
Short Term Goalsst
i. Contacting the industries and inviting them for campus interviews.
ii. Helping the students to face the challenges of the selection process by conducting periodic general aptitude tests, technical aptitude tests, group discussions, mock interviews etc., and making them generally aware of the industrial scenario, their role as engineers, etc.
iii. Effectively carrying out institute-industry-interaction in terms of mutual contacts, exchange of information & ideas, arranging visits and technical talks from industrial experts, etc.
iv. Arranging vocational training to students in suitable industries depending on their aptitudes and skills.
v. Assisting the departments in arranging project works for students in reputed industries so that the students get hands-on experience in solving industrial problems.
Long Term Goals
i. To emerge as a leader in placement where multinationals vie with each other to recruit students of PESIT.
ii. To build a leading HR centre to hone the skills of students in industriousness, integrity, communication, analytical
iii. To proactively interact with industries and seek their co-operation in vocational training and project work for students, as well as, be active players in the overall improvement of academic ambience.
Department of Training and Placement
The Training & Placement Division of the institution acts as an interface between the institute and companies, and believes in maintaining symbiotic, vibrant and purposeful relationship with industries across the country. The department hosts companies on campus and ensures that every aspirant is assured of a bright career of his/her choice.
A spacious auditorium equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities, seminar hall and multi-purpose facility halls have been made available by the institute to the cell for conducting the training and recruitment programmes.
Training and Placement cell organizes sustained training programmes for the pre-final year students towards preparing them for campus recruitment programmes. The cell has been fostering a very productive and mutually beneficial relationship with the industries towards generating the placement opportunities for our students. The cell provides the best of the facilities for conducting the recruitment programmes.
The Department of Training and Placement, the marketing division of the institute has these following functions and responsibilities:
The cell also organizes entrepreneurial awareness camps, workshops and seminars to encourage the students to become entrepreneurs.
Nurtures Student-Corporate interaction, by the means of frequent industrial visits, practical and effective training and projects of industrial relevance for the students, with the intention to cease down the hiatus that exists between an industry and the classroom.
A feedback mechanism circulates which relates to curriculum improvement from the visiting companies to the administration (faculty), to ensure that the curriculum does not miss out on the latest industrial trends.
Assists students to define their career interest through expert counseling. Availability of updated database and job profile of the companies helps each student to analyze and choose one’s desired company.
Provides continuing and useful education for the college employees as well.
Organizes and co-ordinates Campus Placement Program, to fulfill its commitment of ‘job to every aspirant’.
A proper arrangement for summer practical training for all pre-final year B.E. Students are an important function of our department.
The relevance of the Training and Placement Department is becoming increasingly significant in the current generation. The primary aim of this department is to bridge the gap that exists between the industries – Academia and to have a holistic approach towards career development. Having been exposed to the educational environment in Europe, it’s fascinating to see the Govt-Academia-Industry synergy that effectively harnesses the intellectual wealth of educational institutions. Efforts are being made to emulate the same for the benefit of the faculty and students here.
These days it is getting increasingly difficult to find employable engineers. One of the most prominent reasons for this is the lack of awareness amongst the students about their own potential, the current industry trends and also their inability to display confidence through effective communication skills. After having hopped from one bandwagon to another during their entire duration of time as a student, it can be a difficult task for a student to analyze his own strengths and effectively decide on a career goal.
To address these challenges, this department mainly focuses upon building the inherent potential of a student through ways such as effective counseling, improving career choice & decision making skills by facilitating workshops from industrialists/experts/entrepreneurs on relevant topics and other such measures. The idea is to achieve an Engineer who is not just a bag of skills but also an individual who is completely aware of the industry requirements displaying the charisma required to excel in any of his chosen fields.
