The Department is spear headed by innovative thinking of Dr. S F Kodad , who comes with a total of 30 plus years of experience in core electrical and electronics engineering.The Department currently has 14 faculty members with expertise in diverse areas including Power Systems and Power Electronics, Integration of Renewable Energy Sources, Smart Grid and Signal Processing.Graduates in Electrical and Electronics Engineering are drivers of technological change and innovation in engineering-based industries.Electrical & Electronics Engineering at PESITM, aims to play an active role in propelling India in its growth trajectory through innovative inter–disciplinary research and educational programs at undergraduate and research levels.

Non – Teaching Faculty
The department has a well equipped laboratory with sufficient components and equipments for the students to conduct the experiments individually and separate rooms for instruction in each laboratory and projectors fixed in each class room for effective teaching. The department has its own library with about 500 vital books for the benefit of both students & the staff members.
The department has excellent infrastructure to carry out the labs. The Laboratory work includes the practical study of the steady state of three-phase transformers, three – phase inductive machines and three – phase synchronous machines. The experiments allow students to derive the approximate equivalent circuits of each type of machine, which are subsequently verified by using a computational tool.
Electrical Machines Lab
Electrical Machines Lab provides the essential facilities to the students to augment their concepts about the fundamentals of transformers and rotating machines. The lab is equipped with DC series/shunt motor, compound motor, universal motor, single-phase induction motor, single-phase transformer, three-phase induction motor, three-phase synchronous motor and three-phase transformer. This lab gives the students the first hand chance to get familiar with basic machines which will be useful in power systems and power electronics courses. Besides, the lab instills in the students the awareness and practice of safety
The Power electronics laboratory is equipped with all modern and latest equipment’s including Digital Storage Oscilloscopes, various analog, digital and power electronics kits. This lab gives a thorough understanding of solid state converters and drives which find vast applications in industries
Control Systems Lab
The laboratory is well equipped with various instruments, kits and accessories. like Servo transmitter and receiver, Position Control of servomotor. Practical Sessions are performed on MATLAB using SIMULINK, SIMPOWER and control toolbox for analyzing control systems.
The laboratory is well equipped with state of the art Equipments & contemporary software tools like MATLAB, PSPICE, PSCAD/EMTDC, PSIM, AUTOCAD etc. This lab helps students to perform the real time experiments virtually on a computer. It provides tremendous exposure to the students to explore various solutions that can be obtained for a given problem.
Electrical Measurements Lab:
This lab includes experiments related to calibration and measurement of various electrical and physical quantities. In this lab, students learn to calibrate meters, various types of AC/DC bridges, LVDT, earth tester, solar panel, stroboscope, power measurement etc. Tests and measurements are important in designing, evaluating, maintaining and servicing electrical equipment.
This Laboratory is designed to provide the student with the knowledge to use basic measuring instruments and Understanding of basic theorems with proficiency. The objective of this laboratory is to familiarize students with the important basic concepts to stand sturdily in rapidly evolving world of modern technology
Relay & High Voltage Lab>
This lab is concentrated on all types of relays, protection schemes for electrical machines, measurement of HVAC & HVDC, breakdown strength of transformer oil & field mapping using electrolytic tank for capacitor and Transmission lines. Various protective schemes, are dealt in this lab.
The Microcontrollers 8051 Lab curriculum includes both software and interfacing modules. The objective of the lab with respect to software module is to understand the types of data transfer, to perform arithmetic and logical operations, branch and subroutines, Bit Addressability. This is executed by making use of Keil MicroVision Simulator.
Interfacing Modules such as

- Hex Key pad, Elevator,
- Temperature Controller
- Speed Control of Stepper motor
- DC motors are programmed making use of four I/O Ports which are integral part of 8051.
OP-AMP and LIC’s Lab
The Linear Integrated Circuits laboratory was established for understanding and designing integrated circuits and real-time systems. The laboratory introduces the use, characterization, analysis, and design methods of integrated circuits with a focus on applications.
The Linear Integrated circuits laboratory aims to highlight the Linear Op-Amp circuits , Inverting and Non inverting Amplifiers, Voltage Follower, Differentiator, Integrator, Subtractor, summer, Comparator circuits , zero crossing detector, Window detector ,Schmitt trigger and Sample and hold circuits and to provide the students with a basic understanding regarding such as Multivibrators using Op-Amp, Multivibrators using IC 555, DAC Circuits –R – 2R- ladder type, Successive approximation type ADC, Active filters using Op-Amps – 2nd order LPF- HPF- BPF and BSF, Multiplier as Analog divider- squarer and square rooter, Oscillators using Op-Amps and Voltage Regulator using IC 723
The laboratory helps students to
– Design and analyze the various integrated circuits using 741 IC and 555 timer.
– Understand basics of an integrated circuits and its applications.
