The Youth Red Cross orientation programme was held on August 02, 2019 with an intention to make aware of the various concepts and aspects of YRC for Ist year B. Com, BBA, BCA and B.Sc. students at the PESIAMS Seminar Hall. The Programme was presided over by Dr. K Sailatha, Principal of PESIAMS, Shivamogga. Mr. Nagesh G P and Mr. Harsha C Mathad, Faculty Members PG Dept of Commerce of PESIAMS were the resource persons for that programme.

During orientation talk, Mr. Harsha C Mathad, briefed students of the origin and development of Youth Red Cross,the Contribution of Founder Sir Jean Henry Dunant and his sacrifice and contribution in bringing up a social welfare society in an international level and he explained that the mission of the Indian Red Cross is to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized and even prevented and thus contribute to creating more congenial climate for peace. He spoke about how it is celebrated worldwide by the red cross organizations to assist people keeping in mind the fundamental principles of the red cross organization such as Independence, Humanity, Impartiality, neutrality, universality, unity and voluntary. He expressed that students have been benefitted in various ways by being a Core member of the Youth Red Cross Society.

During orientation talk another resource person, Mr. G P Nagesh stressed the importance of setting up Youth Red Cross Wing at the college level. The motive of celebrating the red cross day is to reduce and terminate the suffering among people and raise their dignity to the next level and stating that YRC volunteers can make a change by involving themselves in helping the needy and serving the society during disasters without any hesitation and thus can contribute to make a safe and healthy society.

Mr. Mohan R welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest.  Ms. Arshu anchored the programme and Mr. Mohan proposed a vote of thanks. Mr. Nagaraja S Rco-ordinator of PG Dept of Commerce, Mrs. Roopa D S, HOD of Dept of BCA and Mr. Mohan D faculty member, Mr. Praveen B, YRC Programme officer, Mr. Satish V, NSS Program Officer of PESIAMS were present.
