“National Youth Day and A Seven Day Special Youth Programme” was held by the Department of Youth Welfare and Sports, Shivamogga in collaboration with NSS and Nehru Youth Centre, Shivamogga District, on account of Swami Vivekananda’s 158th birthday celebration. Mr. Arun, Department of Youth Welfare and Sports, inaugurating the programme addressed the audience regarding the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Pointing to the enormous youth power India has, he asserted the need to guide it in the path laid down by Vivekananda.

Mrs. Suvarna Shankar, presiding the programme recollected how Vivekananda took Hinduism to international platforms. She opined that the youth need to inculcate the values of Dharma in order to revive the glorious past of the nation and make it a world leader. A motivational speech session was held as a part of the seven day programme. Mrs. Vaishali, CEO, Jilla Panchayat, Shivamogga, was the resource person. She spoke at length on the Karnataka Civic Service examinations and addressed popular questions and misconceptions regarding it. She assured that no exam is uncrackable if one has the right spirit and determination.
