The fruitfulness of Swachha Bharath concept which is the brain child of our Honourable Prime Minister Sri.Narendra Modi can be realized only when it becomes internalized by the people and it becomes a community centered and community managed activity, opined Prof. B M Kumaraswamy, noted Economist and Environmentalist of shivamogga, while addressing the students at the inauguration of Swachhata Pakhwada fornight, Skill Se Sampurna Swachhata Campaign to be held from 16 July to 31 July, 2018 along with Prerana Educational and Social Trust and Swamy Vivekananda Vidya Samsthe at Prerana Convention Hall, Sagar Road, Shivamogga on 16 of july 2018.
The programme was inaugurated by Sri. K.B Ashok Naik, MLA, Shivamogga Rural, Shivamogga, who in his address highlighted the plight of the rural people who are prone to many diseases on account of lack of cleanliness and how the youth can take active role in keeping the surroundings clean and tidy and thereby create healthy rural population contributing to a healthy India.
Smt. S.Y Aruanadevi, Director of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Shivamogga and also trustee of PES Trust, Shivamogga in her introductory speech explained the idea behind organizing this Swachhata Pakhwada and threw light on the various activities planned to be conducted in the fortnight starting from 16th to 31st July, like puppet show,symposium,workshop, health checkups, community awareness drives, tree plantation drives and conducting various competitions and how all the proposed activities have been aimed at targeting the youth of rural shivamogga.
A pledge on Swachhata Pakhwada was given to the audience by Sri. Nagesh, G.P., Asst. Professor of PESIAMS College.
Sri. B.Y.Raghavendra, Ex MP of Shivamogga & Ex MLA of Shikaripura presided over the function and stressed upon the importance of making India plastic free and the importance of utilizing natural resources like solar energy more. Dr. Nagaraja R, CCA of PES Trust, proposed vote of thanks and the programme ended with singing of the National Anthem.
