Outcome based Education

Practice of OBE

Outcome based education is a philosophy of imparting knowledge and skills with specific and measurable parameters. It is goal-oriented approach with targets for outcomes and scope for improvement.

At department of Civil Engineering the outcome-based education is achieved by following means:

  1. Teaching – Learning: One of the primary tools for achieving the desired outcome is through class room teaching. Along with conventional method, following aspects are also executed for enhanced quality of learning
    • Visual Aids – Use of presentations, Pictorial representations, Videos & Animations helps for better understanding
    • Experiential Learning – Hands on experience is provided for students to validate the knowledge gained
    • Activities & Assignments – Student activities involves being relevant with present day context through exploration and self-learning.
  2. Value Added Trainings: Academic curriculum is not sufficient to meet the industry requirements, which are usually fulfilled through value added trainings. Some of the trainings being undertaken are
    • Weekend Add-on Course on Revit Architecture.
    • Training on Tekla Structures.
    • Internship Cum Training on Building Information Modelling (BIM).
    • Student Development Programs & Invited Talks by experts.
  3. Extra-Curricular Activities: Sporting activities and cultural activities are also important for overall development. Creative skills, abilities, working in teams / groups, representation of contents in different styles are all learnt through extra-curricular activities.
