The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2013. The present intake for the undergraduate program is 60 and affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi and approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi (AICTE). The department is actively involved in research and development and is a recognized research centre under VTU. B.E in Civil Engineering program accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The Civil Engineering department is keen on imparting value-based education, with experienced faculties, modern computing and laboratory facilities.
Site Visits, Hands-on Training, and Add-on courses have been a part of the teaching-learning process with the regular curriculum. The department focuses on imparting outcome based education, ensuring the overall personality development of a student.
A personal space for living, a transport facility for commuting, and a commercial or business place for employment and livelihood are an essential part of day-to-day life, all of which are essentially administered by a Civil Engineer. Considered to be the mother of all engineering disciplines, Civil Engineering has co-existed from the time of ancient Civilization. There is no civilization without Civil Engineering right from the stone era to nanotechnology, Civil Engineering has seen enormous growth in terms of both advancements in materials and construction techniques. IT interventions in Civil Engineering have become the new norm to the extent that artificial intelligence in Civil Engineering is being explored and adopted. Being one of the three core disciplines, Civil Engineering fulfils all the necessities of developing the economy as well as human comfort and will remain significant till human existence.
- State of Art laboratories and facilities are available to students, enabling hands-on experience in areas like Concrete and Highway Material Testing, Building Material Testing, Fluid Mechanics, Environmental Engineering, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
- The students can be part of career development training, workshops, seminars, student development activities and Alumni networking events that enhance student’s job readiness and industry connections.
- The department also offers consultancy services in all the major areas of the Civil Engineering domain.
- The department has signed eight memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the industries and training institutes for developing skills of students and offering placements.
- Student projects will receive financial assistance from agencies like KSCST, VTU etc...
- The students are encouraged to participate in the Curricular and Co-curricular activities.
- The Department library provides sufficient books for reference for faculties and students.
- Faculty members are publishing high-quality research work in Peer reviewed Journals, Books and Book Chapters

“One of the right decisions I made was to join PESITM for my graduation. Civil Engineering is rightly considered the most versatile amongst all engineering branches. The department’s vision is to give an exposure to budding civil technocrats to various challenges in the profession having a highly qualified and experienced faculty. There is a wonder combination of academic excellence and industrial experience amongst the faculty, which is instrumental in imparting the right blend of theoretical and practical knowledge to the students. The department also handles consultancy works and projects. In addition, activities like seminars, projects, assignments, quizzes and other such competitions are conducted on regular basis to induce the professional skills in the students, which ultimately help them in getting placed in reputed organizations. Above all this we got personal concern from the faculties who were humble to help Us in the way we needed. Thanks to the Teacher’s and to my College.”
“"Stop doubting yourself, work hard and make it happen", this is what I learnt in my four years of engineering. I, Deepthi P S was student of PES Institute of Technology and Management 2018-2022 Civil engineering Department. These four years were most memorable days of my life. I would like to thank all my teachers who supported me throughout this journey. I am really grateful to my teachers who have changed my whole aspect towards learning. Care and support the department gives for each student is great. I am happy for being part of this Institution.”
“My journey with PES institute of technology and management is definitely one I cherish for life. I was able to learn a lot, which helped me excel academically as well as personally, PESITM aims at overall development of an individual and also provides multiple opportunities and exposure to develop a new skill. My experience with faculty of Civil engineering department has been amazing. All faculties were so supportive throughout my 4 years of journey. All this experience and learning helped me bag a job at Sobha Developers ”
“I, Palguni M N was a student of PES Institute of technology and Management 2016-2020 Civil Engineering Batch. PESIT was the most amazing 4 years of my life yet. This college lives up to everything it offers. The college has a well-advanced infrastructure with computer lab, a well-stocked library and sports facilities it also has a well-managed, clean, sanitary, spacious canteen. Teachers are nice, supportive and friendly. I would like to thank all the faculties of Civil Engineering Department for their sincere efforts of bringing out the best of us and for all the motivation and encouragement they always have given us! The individual attention and care by the faculty in PESIT to each student is highly commendable. . I express my Sincere Gratitude to this college which has guided me to become who i am today.”
“I really enjoyed the college experience. This college is what everyone expects to be. The pleasant environment which attracts the students to Be in college every day. I really liked the teacher’s approach to the students; they always want to help us. Moreover, apart from studies, students also enjoy the Co-curricular activities. The 4 years of college memories is my favourite past times I had in my life! There were ups and downs and a roller coaster. But, each turn of a roller coaster led to new experience and some difficult situations too. But all the lecturers were so supportive that even the biggest turn, felt like a smooth straight road. “Hello everyone, I’m Zeeshan basically I completed my civil engineering from PES college Shivamogga in the year 2019. First of all, congratulations. Welcome to the Civil Engineering community. Your question reminds me about the time when I was a fresh graduate, had a lot of dreams and lot of energy. I would like to give you the same advice that i got from my seniors when i was about to start my career - There is a lot to learn. I know that it is very hard to accept it but it is a fact that you should learn to live with, the sooner the better. Even after 20 years of working in various roles in Civil Engineering and Project Management, there are still many things that i keep discovering and learning. My advice to you is that you have a open mind for learning, ask questions if you don't understand, feel free to say that you don't know when you don't know and not pretend that you know. ”
“I am very glad to say something about my college. During my four years of study in this college, I like eco -friendly atmosphere and beautiful infrastructure here and i belong to civil branch and I feel, our department is putting heroic efforts to give knowledge to the students and to make them understand the concepts and the fact that faculties are really close to the students and I still remembering that hostel life, canteen, campus, events etc. I am very fortunate to be a part of PESITM family”

It has been quite some time since i graduated from our esteemed institution &i felt compelled to reach out & express any appreciation for invaluable education & experiences I gained during my time as a student. Reflecting on my journey as a civil engineer i am reminded of the strong foundation laid by the department dedicated faculty members. I am grateful for the well-rounded curriculum that exposed me to a diverse range of subjects within civil engineering. The hands-on laboratory sessions, design projects, survey camp, field visit. Provided valuable practical experience & helped bridge the gap between theory & real-world applications. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to each & every members of civil engineering department.
